6–8 months

Cook whitefish mix thoroughly until the flesh is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. Remove all bones carefully, then shred the fish into small, soft flakes or form it into finger-length strips about the width of two adult fingers that your baby can grasp. You can mix the flakes with mashed vegetables or serve strips of fish on their own, ensuring the texture remains moist to prevent drying out.

9–11 months

Continue to cook whitefish mix until fully tender and check meticulously for bones. Offer small, pea-sized flakes that your baby can pick up with their developing pincer grasp, or slightly larger soft bites. You can also form the cooked fish into small patties or mix it into pasta, grains, or vegetable dishes to add moisture and variety.

12–24 months

Serve whitefish mix as small, bite-sized pieces or strips that your toddler can manage with their improved chewing skills. Keep the fish moist by cooking it gently and avoid overcooked, dry edges which can be harder to chew and swallow. You can incorporate whitefish into family meals such as fish pie, risotto, or pasta dishes, always checking for bones before serving.

Nutrition highlights

Whitefish mix is an excellent source of high-quality protein, which supports your baby's growth and development. It provides important nutrients including omega-3 fatty acids for brain and eye development, vitamin D for bone health, and selenium for immune function. Whitefish is also naturally low in mercury compared to many other fish varieties, making it a safe choice for regular meals.

Allergen information

Fish is one of the top allergens for babies. Introduce whitefish mix on its own, in small amounts at first, and watch for signs of an allergic reaction such as hives, vomiting, or difficulty breathing.

Always supervise meals. Adjust textures to your baby's stage. Medical questions belong with your health professional. Source: babyledweaningfoods.com/foods/whitefish-mix
